Mayor Randy Foley was elected to Salem City Council in May of 2006 and appointed Mayor on July 1, 2008.
Foley is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Nicus Software, Inc., a Salem-based business. He served as a United States Air Force Officer from 1994-2003. Foley graduated from Salem High School in 1987. He attended the University of Virginia on a football scholarship, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Government along with a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He later earned his Master’s in Business Administration from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
Foley serves as Salem’s representative on the following Boards and Committees: Board of Directors of the Roanoke Regional Partnership, Virginia Municipal League Legislative Committee, Roanoke Valley Alleghany Regional Commission Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee, Roanoke Valley Alleghany Regional Commission Stormwater Management Committee, and Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority (Alternate).
The Mayor and his wife, Nicole, have three children. Nicole is employed as the librarian at G.W. Carver Elementary. Foley is a member of Salem’s First United Methodist Church, Salem Rotary Club, American Legion, Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council, and the Salem High School PTA. |
