YOUTH SPORTS
 Our Mission

The purpose of our youth athletic leagues is to provide an enjoyable experience for each youth participant, while developing character, skills, sportsmanship and promoting good will among all teams and individuals.  Although sports are competitive by nature, the City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department's intentions are to place less emphasis on winning, while promoting the building of lifetime physical activity and health for each participant.

COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD
This years award recipient is Dana Pitts from the North Salem Booster Club.  Dana has been a youth coach for the last three years.  During this time she's  volunteered her time helping kids not only learn how to play the sport, but how to also have fun while doing it.  Dana credits her father for her coaching philosophy which is to be a model of sportsmanship on and off the field, make it as fun as possible and push each participant to reach their full potential.  Thanks for all the time and work put into the program and job well done.
