Required items when applying for a building permit
What is the correct way to display a building permit at the site?

The Office of Building Inspections and Zoning issues the following permits:

Building

Residential
  • New
  • Addition or Alteration to Residence
  • Demolition
Commercial
  • New
  • Addition or Alteration to Commercial Building
  • Demolition
Waterproofing

Electric

  • Rewiring
  • Change of Service
  • In-ground Swimming Pool
  • Temporary

Plumbing

  • Addition or Replacement of Fixtures
  • Water/Sewer Line Replacements

Mechanical

  • Elevator Permit
  • Replacement of HVAC System
  • Gas Lines
  • Boiler Installation
  • Fire Suppression

Signs

  • Temporary Signs - A temporary sign permit can be issued once every six months and is good for 30 days. Temporary Signs cannot be larger than 32 square feet.
  • Permanent Signs

Cross Connection

Every boiler and all new commercial buildings need a Cross Connection Permit. Backflow devices are installed and tested by a Third party contractor. They must be inspected annually.
